Hi TC,

2.6% AER, unlimited deposits, max 4 withdrawals a year?...

Hi YB

That must be it but it's worse than FD's comparable 2.75% one and now I'll have to open a bank account with FD to get theirs!

Will have a look at the small print or give the Halifax a call and see if they'll allow in-house transfers-in.

Really not shaping up to be much of a year for bonanza ISA rates unfortunately.  Cry

The perceived wisdom seems to be that the IR just rap you on the knuckles and tell you not to do it again the first time you exceed the ISA allowance for one tax year.

If you haven't done so already, it might be better to make your "mistake" once the allowance has increased!  Wink

I can feel another mistake coming on  Cheesy

Getting confused over the 5th of April and the 6th of April and opening a new ISA on both dates sounds like an easy mistake to make  Tongue

The Santander 3.5% one looks like the best on the go at the moment - details here - it tracks at 3% above BOE rate for 12 months - which can basically only go up but when it will is anybody's guess.

I've heard they even have wallpaper now, as well as Sky TV, in Wormwood Scrubs. Send us a postcard (and we'll send you a cake with a file in it Grin)

I often find vast quantities of cheap chocolate Easter egg renders me incapable of telling which day of the week it is!

Be warned though CJ - it's meant to be a one time only get out of jail free card!  (Think they just close down the second one if you try it more than once, which should be just about bearable).

I've just spoken to the Halifax and they are going to allow transfers-in from the current 3% one.  Just phone them on the day your 3% one expires and they'll request it's transferred internally.  Will take a couple of days to show but the interest is backdated, so a seamless transition.  Unless there's anything markedly better, I might settle for that rather than faffing around with transferring to First Direct for 0.15% more.

As someone on MSE has pointed out, one crucial difference between this and the old 3% one is that the new 2.6% rate is variable not fixed.  God only knows how I missed that!  Everything else about it does seem the same to me though.

Fingers Crossed it will go up!

Awesome.

I realise I've not been on the forum for a while and this really cheered me up.

Thanks.  Smiley
