Beating the new CRA detail
Jan 22nd, 2010 at 11:17am

Just got my stat. report in from Equifax, checking it just now to ensure no gremlins on it. Looking at the number of accounts that report the "min" payment code and "rate indicator", I noticed that on some of the cards that I held for nearly a year waiting on a repeat (ferking MBNA) that the 9 months out of promo fill most of the detail only leaving the last 3 months to imply I may have been stoozing or tarting with them.

So, is this a viable method to "purge" your credit file of potential tarting/stoozing data that would alert others? Would mean keeping the card open for 12 months after a promo which isn't necessarily great and obviously wouldn't work for active stooze cards, but those aside, anyone see a flaw with this? (like there's really 3 years data there but the CRA report only shows us 1 year?)

My MBNA card on my Experian report shows the same detail results as it goes.

I think your question is the most pertanent in this example. Is what we see on our CRA report identicle to the report data that the underwiters access? That could be a question for our "insider" Mr Stooz.

They're the history each month of whether you paid the minimum and whether it was part of a promo balance.

Pay more than the minimum each month (£1 manual payment after the DD)?
Keep the card open after the promotional rate - with no activity or make a small purchase each month?

Surely us stoozers can find a way to beat the system  Wink
