Hi,

I've noticed that TopCashBack hold onto money for ages.

They've finally sent me an email saying that they got the £46 for the A&L application from A&L. But in my cash back by date tab they have the payable date as the 30/04/10. As it’s already taken 3 months for them to get the money to pass on to me I think the date I'm saying in my payout is taking the right Michael!

Are they playing with me or do you all notice the same problem?

Usually there's no way of knowing when TCB receive the money themselves, apart from when the transaction goes to "payable" at which point you can request payment.  I think it's only because you had a query that they advised you they had the money - surely if you asked they would make it payable though?

I actually find TCB better than Quidco in the respect that you can request a payout mid-month if you want.

They all seem as bad as each other TBH - I was a big user of Quidco but got fed up with how many things failed to track and how enquiries went nowhere - so I moved to cash back kings who are another front of rpoints but used to pay better and they do track more reliably and pay more quickly - but then they cut the cashback levels so I started using topcashback who I had joined when they opened but they seem to have the poor tracking no response to enquiries problems that affect quidco.

Have had a few smaller items not track through Quidco but all the big spends have worked so far  Fingers Crossed They definitely do hold onto the money for a while, I'm convinced they hold onto it for a month or so to earn a bit of interest.

At the end of the day, any cashback is a bonus if you've shopped around and got the best price.

I mostly agree CJ - but I think the CB model is just to flaky to blow up and become a success whilst they continue to treat the customers with uncertain terms and conditions. I think they should be more transparant and accountable.

Although the more successful it is, the more people do it, and the more people do it, the less cashback will get paid out as it becomes less innovative marketing and more the norm. I've already noticed cashback on insurance has dropped from £65 last year to £40 this year - possibly because marketing budgets have been slashed across the board.

And there was me thinking the opposite - the more people that use it and the more companies that join - the more competitive the discounts become.

I wonder if the slashed values are more recession related than anything to do with the CB sites themselves?

I find TCB much better than rpoints.  I always try + find the lowest price - the cash back is a welcome bonus but I never rely on it.  Got fed up putting manual claims into rpoints.

Took out home contents insurance through Swinton for £80 last year.  Got £30 cash back from Swinton + £30 cash back through TCB  Cool.

I've found that the time until cashback is payable is very variable and yes sometimes it never arrives. I do think that Topcashback are honest and that they make the money payable as and when they get it. Sometimes it only takes 2 or 3 weeks so they couldn't have been holding onto it in that case.
I'm still waiting on the £50 from A&L too. My estimated payable date is (was) 31st March so fingers crossed it will become payable soon. I have had £100 off them already directly so can't complain..

Don't forget to add an A&L savings account for another £20 before closing in preparation for the next application.  The A&L rebranding as Santander will be a shame tho as it will halve the opportunities for new account offers that used to be doable in both abbey and A&L formats Sad

... and unfortunately Santander don't seem to offer cashback when signing up?

A few months ago I applied for A&L through Quidco and it was tracked, validated and strangely paid in less than one month - is that a record?
