Rejection Rates
Mar 1st, 2010 at 7:25pm

Sad news today as I recieved my third rejection from three applications in the current calander year  Cry

So far, rejections from Sainsbury's, Playcom (MBNA) and SAGA (AIB), all for purchase only cards. And this at a time when my active cards are at an all time low, and have been closing cards as they reach the end of their useful working life (while I loved them all dearly for the brief periods that they were productive, it is better to make a clean break of a relationship than to see them fester in a drawer, never to turn a profit again).

Tis hard times indeed. I fear I may be reduced to using own funds for everyday purchases. My last roll of the dice is for yet another CL increase on Mrs NS FD purchase card. I may ask her to make a call rather than go through the automated process. She does enjoy those  Roll Eyes

I should remove myself to the Hall of Shame now  Sad

3 applications and we're only just out of February? Smiley

I've forcing myself to abstain from applications for a bit. Target is 1 every 3 months.

Only 1 application this year so far:

Searched on: 11/02/2010
Searched By: SANTANDER CARDS LTD (ABBEY)
Application Type: Credit Card

Prior one to that was:

Searched on: 09/12/2009
Searched By: MBNA EUROPE BANK LTD
Application Type: Credit Card

MBNA was rejected - turns out now that it was most likely because my Virgin card wasn't cancelled - can't remember why I didn't appeal the decision at the time.

Not been rejected by Santander yet, but then again they're not known for their speed in processing applications Smiley

Yes, three in two months, but my search total for the year was under six searches, so had not done any previously since August or thereabouts. And only have three active cards now (although Mrs NS has a goodly few).

I am now in a period of purdah until around three O'Clock ahahahah. No, May looks like my next window, when some BT's are repaid and searches have dropped off. Not a lot out there at present, so might as well do a period of credit cleansing.

How's your total credit to income ratio?

Looking at just mine, credit to income is about 30% at present. if throw Mrs NS into the pot and include her income, is about 35%, so nothing to worry about there.

Understand the Playcom, as it is MBNA, and I have a Virgin card recently raided. The Sainsbury was a surprise really, the SAGA more so. Things must be tightening up I guess. And I am not a profitable proposition for the CL's I expect.

God bless RBS I say  Grin
