Re: Comparing Santander to other Savings Accounts

Cool, I wasn't aware that you could have 3 BoS Vantage or 2 Tesco.

Re the above accounts, do you cycle from 1 BoS or Tesco to the next, like you can with tsb and halifax, for purposes of funding the accounts?

Re: Comparing Santander to other Savings Accounts

I was looking at tax, when looking at just the interest each month. When I decided to look at equivalent interest after the fee, I took out the calc for tax, with me not thinking it being too relevant, April is only getting closer. However I've just done a quick calc using the remainder invested in ...

Re: Comparing Santander to other Savings Accounts

The person in question is investing the lump sum cash part of a pension, that was discontinued by the company. I have looked at regular savers, running alongside the Santander account, but the santander account will at some point get below £3000, making it negative, but not all the time. I was hopin...

Comparing Santander to other Savings Accounts

I've been tasked with helping someone invest money, nothing too adventurous, I'm not a financial adviser. I helped them open some current accounts to use as savings. We have opened 2 TSB 5%, Lloyds 4%, Tesco, HBOS 3%. I was pondering about Santander, with them charging a fee, I don't like fees, howe...

Re: Less interest for Jan

I didn't realise there was a 2nd page, my reply was based on page 1 comments, and I was at the end of my shift, so I posted, and logged off.

I still don't agree that there is compounding interest, unless the amount in the account is less than £2000, and doesn't go over it.

Re: Less interest for Jan

Not really, like mike says anything over £2000 doesn't receive interest, so they aren't paying interest on interest, just interest on the £2000, which I why I transfer out the interest received every month from my GF account Interestingly I setup a spreadsheet to keep track of money in the TSB accou...

Re: Donor accounts... Where to open them?

I have been using natwest for myself and GF.
They give you the account details straight away IIRC.
I did open a santander for the same purpose, but never got to use it, so it is still live, with 2 DDs on it.

Now I have Nationwide and Coop, which will be used as donors when i'm ready to start again.

Re: Extra TSB classic accounts

Last Thursday I sat down with GF's Dad and went through opening some accounts for him to save his money (not stooz from CC). We opened 2 Classic Plus accounts, with the first 1 triggering setting up online banking. The 2nd was pre-populated with his details, so we opened that in a matter of seconds,...
